atmos bloom is the bedroom recording project of Manchester based musicians Tilda Gratton and Curtis Paterson.
The project began this year through a shared desire to explore the duo’s love of dream pop and the music they were writing. Shortly after their formation, the debut and self-titled atmos bloom EP was recorded employing lo-fi techniques, providing a form of cathartic escapism during these troubled times.
atmos bloom is their release from the mundanity of an urban and often locked-down world. Most of the songs were written from a bedroom during the national lockdown and, being able to come together following eased restrictions, Tilda and Curtis celebrated by locking themselves away in a rehearsal room for two weeks to record.
The duo has many inspirations but those of Beach Fossils, CASTLEBEAT and Fazerdaze, with their lo-fi recording techniques and blissful dream pop, really stood out and helped them create their debut.
Manchester as a city is a continuous inspiration with its abundance of creativity and plethora of musicians. With so many artists within the scene, the possibility of making music feels very natural to them both, and that call to create became even stronger during the pandemic as the music scene sat quietly. They found themselves being drawn to dreamier and softer music than that which usually makes its way out of the industrial mills of Manchester. This felt blissfully escapist, during a time when real escape was not possible.
