EMMY Award-winning Brooklyn, NY duo The Bergamot release their brand-new single, “Make It Last” today (via AWAL).
“Make It Last” was written during quarantine and is designed by the band to sound the environmental alarm on the eve of the US election – the new single’s video juxtaposes natural beauty with human-created pollution whilst the song’s lyrics encourage a bit of self-reflection from the listener.
The Bergamot (aka husband & wife duo Nathaniel Hoff & Jillian Speece) are set to release a brand-new, as yet untitled, album in early 2021, recorded with London based producer/engineer Matt Wiggins (Glass Animals / Adele / Florence + The Machine) and the follow-up to last year’s critically-acclaimed long-player ‘Mayflies.’ Previous single “L.A.” was recently revealed as the top song ever listed at influential music site SubmitHub (with over 14 million submissions)”
Talking about the video for new single “Make It Last”, Nathaniel says; “We wanted to juxtapose natural beauty with waste – in a highly contrasted way. So when people watch the video they can see that we are not removed from what is going on with the world around us, rather that we are actively participating in climate change. We get to choose whether or not to do something about it – because it starts with action.”
The band were catapulted into the international spotlight when they won an EMMY Award (with The Grotto Network) for their 2018 documentary piece ‘Trailblazers: The Bergamot’ and found themselves featured in Harmonix Systems’ world-conquering Rock Band: Rivals game. More recently, The Bergamot were named one of the “Hottest Emerging Music Talents” by America’s influential People Magazine,
One of the hardest working live bands in the country, The Bergamot were all set to open for OneRepublic at their first-ever stadium performance (in the spring of 2020) before COVID-19 sadly curtailed the group’s live touring plans and sent Nathaniel & Jillian back into the studio.
On January 2nd 2016 The Bergamot packed up their belongings in Brooklyn, NY and headed out on the open road to find themselves, documenting their journey as they travelled 50,000 miles across 50 states, just as one of the most vicious elections America has ever witnessed sowed division and discontent throughout an increasingly divided nation. What the band experienced and found along the way changed their lives forever. The Bergamot are currently co-producing a full-length documentary entitled ‘State of the Unity,’ filmed over the entire journey in 2016 (and set to be released soon).
