“Soaring guitar pop that recalls everyone from
The La’s to Blossoms and beyond” CLASH
Shambolics will release their new single ‘Losing Your Mind’ this Friday, 25th March on their own Eggman Records ahead of a long-awaited string of UK dates and their sold-out show at SWG3 in their adopted home-town of Glasgow. The single is produced by regular collaborator Chris Marshall (Gerry Cinnamon / The Dunts / Baby Strange).
“Losing Your Mind is a song about struggle and survival, and things we’ve seen growing up where we’re from in Fife,” says guitarist and co-lead vocalist Darren Forbes. “It tells the stories of numerous characters we’ve known along the way and the things they do just to get by. Sometimes it feels like an achievement just to make it from one day to the next without losing your mind.”
Losing Your Mind comes with an evocative lyric video, a collaboration with legendary Glasgow photographer Brian Anderson, whose black and white reportage images of city life in all its guises brings an extra poignancy to the song as it builds to an anthemic peak.
Losing Your Mind is sure to become a live highlight when Shambolics’ hit the road across the UK in April and May.
“Everything we do revolves around the live performance and how a song we write will go down with the crowd,” says Darren. “We love experimenting and being creative in the studio, but that’s only half the story for us. Our shows are a collective experience so if a song gets people going mad at a gig then we’ve got a winner. We’re like the cheerleaders but the crowd brings the energy we need to perform at our best. The bigger the crowd, the more energy there is for us to feed off. We’re so excited to get back out on the road.”

Shambolics formed in Fife in 2018. Cited by Alan Mcgee as ‘one of the great Scottish bands’ he went on to sign Shambolics in 2019 to his latest Creation Records incarnation Creation23 label they went on to release their debut single ‘Chasing A Disaster’ which went in at No 2 on the UK Official Vinyl Charts. Two more singles were released and the band played their biggest show to date on 14th March 2020 at a sold out St Lukes, Glasgow just 3 days prior to the country going into lockdown.
During the pandemic they showcased a series of classic cover versions including Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Everywhere’, The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’, ABBA’s ‘Mamma Mia’ and The Stones ’Sympathy for the Devil’; finding a raft of new fans with their uplifting reworkings.
After restrictions were lifted in early 2021, the band relocated themselves and their studio to Glasgow where they found a kindred spirit in producer Chris Marshall who helped them realise what the influence of living in a big city meant to them as a band. The result was more honest, gritty songwriting and sound whilst keeping the melodies and upbeat vibe they had become so well known for.
