Leftfield have today released a new single entitled “Rapture 16. This is a completely new remix of the album version of the track, featuring the vocals of the incredible Earl 16. Earl first collaborated with Leftfield on seminal track ‘Release The Pressure’, taken from their legendary debut album ‘Leftism’.

“Rapture 16” is a track that drives along: a combination of pulsing synths, echoes and the inimitable vocals of Earl 16 meeting a driving beat. It is another moment of surging hedonism on latest album This Is What We Do’.

Speaking of Rapture 16, Leftfield say, “It’s Earl’s vocal that makes this track. It’s such a great voice, and the fact that he’s singing about how music shaped him growing up in Jamaica really brought something soulful and special to the track. We’ve tweaked the album mix, so that it really bumps along – it’s going to be a great track to play live.”

Leftfield head out on a UK tour in May & June of this year – dates in London, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, Bournemouth and Norwich have now sold out. Due to overwhelming demand, the group added a date in Belfast, which also sold out in record time.

About Leftfield

Formed in 1988, Leftfield quickly became one of the most influential and innovative dance music acts of all-time. Originally comprised of Neil Barnes and Paul Daley, Leftfield’s legendary live performances paired with seminal albums, 1995’s Leftism and 1999’s Rhythm & Stealth (both Mercury Music Prize nominees), solidified their position as true pioneers.

The group then went on hiatus in 2002 before returning in 2010 for live appearances (now led solely by Barnes). 2015’s Alternative Light Source was the first Leftfield album in sixteen years. The record garnered acclaim from The Guardian, The Observer, Uncut, Mojo and more, and featured Jason Williamson (Sleaford Mods) and Tunde Adebimpe (TV On The Radio) amongst others. In 2017 the band reissued their classic album Leftism, remastering the original 11 tracks of the record and releasing 11 remixes. They then embarked on a special sold-out tour in support of the reissue, playing Leftism in its entirety.

Leftfield are currently riding high, following the late 2022 release of the group’s phenomenal album, This Is What We Do. The record is a truly vital collection that earned both critical acclaim and commercial success.
