Feeder are back at Barrowland with their Black / Red tour, and Pastel is providing support for the show. The Glasgow crowd has been showing up early for the concert, with the venue being half-filled even before the Pastel boys hit the stage.
Manchester’s own Pastel is opening the show tonight. The four-piece band took to the stage and gave their all to the Glasgow audience, showcasing a heavier side of indie music that piques your curiosity. Their sound is a unique blend of The Verve and Ride, indicating that Pastel has something substantial to offer. The band members include Jack Yates, Liam O’Shea, Joe Anderson, and James Yates. Some highlight songs from their performance include Your Day, Deeper Than Holy, and the outstanding single Dancing On A Pin. Despite their short set, the talented group seemed to enjoy their time on stage and definitely left a mark on the Glasgow fans.
Now was the moment for the headline band, Feeder, to command the stage. They were in the midst of promoting their fantastic new album. The fans in the venue greeted band members Grant Nicholas and Taka Hirose with overwhelming welcome. They began their performance with a new song from the album, ELF, which instantly had the crowd singing along. This was followed by the fan-favourite track, Kyoto, from the Tallulah album. Grant expressed his pleasure at being back in Glasgow, praising it as the best venue in the UK.
The perfect time for a sing-along had arrived with the standout song, Feeling the Moment. This was one of the highlights of the show, alongside The Knock and Playing with Fire from their new album. Live, their sound was fantastic, and it was a pleasure to listen to them. The band was on fire, with bassist Taka stealing the show with his energetic performance. As set was getting close to the end, they pulled out all stops with Come Back Around from their Comfort and Sound album, setting the stage for their biggest hits. The crowd was electric, adding to the atmosphere. They followed with a string of hits like Insomnia, Tangerine, and the impressive High. They concluded the set with the crowd-favourite sing-along, Buck Rogers, to a crowd that was just as fired up, singing along and raising the energy levels. The band exited the stage to the sound of the final note, but the audience knew this was not the end.
The band received a fantastic reception when they returned for an encore. They started the encore with “Soldiers of Love” from their latest album, which was met with enthusiastic applause. The show’s closing song, “Just a Day” from the Echo Park album, came next. The band was firing on all cylinders, delivering a potent mix of old and new songs. They definitely seized the moment with a superb performance.
