Cast, SWG3, Glasgow 4th February 2022
Liverpudlian Brit Poppers Cast turned back the clock and rolled into Glasgow for the first Scottish leg of their All Change album’s 25th Anniversary tour, and gave the crowd a night to remember.
The tour was to promote their 1995 debut, which includes Sandstorm, Finetime, Walkaway and Promised Land, these tracks still sound as fabulous as the always have done, and set the tone for the evening. The bands back catalogue would be delved into later on in the evening.
John Power leads from the front, as always and is joined on stage by Liam Tyson on guitar, Jay Lewis on bass and Keith O’Neill on drums, so other than bassist Peter Wilkinson, it’s the original line up. The setlist continues with further album tracks Mankind, Four Walls, History, Two of a Kind and the original album opener, Alright closing the first act. The songs from the album are in a slightly different running order this evening, but im sure even the biggest Cast fans wouldn’t complain.
It was now time to go back over the bands hit singles. Magic Hour, Live The Dream, Beat Mama and Flying. The band are in fine form this evening, Power’s voice has lost none of its grit and aggression, and fits the songs perfectly. They band look to be enjoying themselves and the crowd certainly were. Tonight’s crowd in The Galvanisers Yard is near capacity and those that braved the weather were treated to a fantastic set from the band, word perfect on the big numbers and giving the band plenty encouragement and enthusiasm.
After a short break the band return to the stage. The tracks Guiding Star and Free Me concluded the set list and the evening was over.
Tonight was another gig showcasing the music from a bygone era which has shown to stand the test of time. You just can’t beat good music, and as long as Cast keep going, the fans will keep coming. A great night out!!
