The Pretty Reckless – Barrowland Glasgow 27th October 2022

A cold damp night in the city wasn’t going to stop the crowds gathering outside of the famous Glasgow Barrowland, holding what is possibly the most wanted ticket for tonight’s gig. The Pretty Reckless are in Glasgow, ready to rock its famous venue. The growing crowds outside stretched right around the venue, this was going to be a show not to be missed. The Glasgow crowd was ready to party, recent reviews coming from Ireland had positive vibes, this band were ready to deliver.

The night opened with The Cruel Knives, these boys sure know how to rock and warm up a crowd, a new band formed from Heavens Basement featuring Sid Glover and Rob Ellershaw together with Tom Harris and Al Junior, creating a rock n roll masterpiece. Currently touring their new single Overdose. The band delivered a powerful set, undoubtedly cleared any cobwebs lingering around the venue. Opening their set with the powerful rock of Black Eye Friday and Life What We Made, certainly turned the heads of the Glasgow crowd, they fulfilled their aim, the Glasgow crowd were fully focused on the musical talents that stood before them, they introduced their new single Overdose, their faces said it all, the band were loving it. The packed-out venue was being treated to excellent powerful music from The Cruel Knives, a band to watch out for coming to a venue close to you with their own headlining show, continuing with Hollow People, and Shotgun to The Head, the crowd were loving it. This was not a support show these guys really know how to put on a performance, Glasgow did what she does best and took them to their hearts. Finishing their set with The World We Were Sold and the epic Crawl, they left the stage saying their goodbyes to Glasgow for now.

It was now that time, the night was set for New York Cities finest Taylor Momsen, Ben Phillips, Mark Damon and Jamie Perkins who are The Pretty Reckless, the hottest ticket in Glasgow tonight. The lights dimmed, the intro music was playing before Glasgow got its first glimpse of the band, taking to the stage one by one, the venue erupted as the first sight of Taylor was seen walking out onto the famous Barrowland stage

The opening chords of Death By Rock and Roll rang out sending the Glasgow crowd wild, Taylor strutting her stuff from one side of the stage to the other, delighting the fans at the front seeing her up close. The powerful front woman had Glasgow in her hands, opening tracks including Since You’re Gone, Only Love Can Save Me Now and the excellent Goin’ Down. Taylor from actor to rock goddess, her fans were loving it, as she delivered a powerful show covering the bands 10 years plus back catalogue. The venue in full voice as they performed Make Me Wanna Die, Sweet Things and the excellent My Medicine, as Halloween was just around the corner, Witches Burn from the latest album Death by Rock and Roll of 2021 was an absolute must on this set list.

Taylor and co closed their set with a bang with My Bone, Heaven Knows and the brilliant Take Me Down before leaving the stage for a short break, a few minutes for the crowd to grab a breath and wipe the sweat from their foreheads. The band remerged from the rear of the stage to play one last song with the 2014 classic Fucked Up World, delivering a perfect ending to an awesome gig, before saying their final goodbyes to Glasgow. Tonight, they took over the city with their powerful rock and roll show, grabbing the crowd, turning their wee world upside down with an epic rock show from the New York City’s Finest The Pretty Reckless.
