The good people of Glasgow have been waiting a long time for tonight… it’s finally here!
The force of nature known as Tom Meighan crashes into Glasgow and the legendary Barrowland Ballroom.
The man who fronted one of the best bands to come out of the UK in years is back with a bang and tonight couldn’t come soon enough for his Scottish fans.
He’s had his well publicised and dissected personal battles and he’s come out the other side with some brilliant new material… but still a hint of bitterness towards his previous band.
As the clock hits 9pm the lights dim and excerpts from a sci-fi score blast out…
The band take to the stage before the main man leaps into action and this biblical show is underway..
Mr Meighan proclaims his love of Glasgow and tells us that “This is a moment Glasgow”… “The King isn’t dead… he isn’t fkn dead”
There is always a chance in this kind of scenario that the crowd are only there for the old stuff; the stuff from the old band.
Not tonight… the new tunes are greeted with (almost) as much fervour as the big hitters of old.
That being said… the Kasabian stuff had the crowd noise off the scale!
Massive communal sing alongs were the theme for the night along with some of the best crowd energy ever witnessed at this old venue.
History shows that Tom Meighan knows how to write an anthem and from the new (as yet unreleased) album such mammoths as “White Lies” and “Better Life” stand shoulder to shoulder with anything he’s ever written.
An epic gig at an amazing venue; right up there with the very best of the year!
The delayed new album – Roadrunner – promises to be a huge success for Tom Meighan and, on the strength of tonights live performance, it will receive huge accolades from anyone who enjoys a bloody good tune.
Kasabian were / are a massive draw on the festival scene down. In no small part, to Tom Meighan. One would imagine his new exploits will be similarly regarded and received on the 2025 festival circuit.
