Following a packed-out headline gig at The Victoria in London just before lockdown, County Line Runner, the namesake of singer-songwriter Adam Day, has dropped the poignant new single ‘Plastic Palm Trees’. The track is the first new music since 2019’s self-titled EP.
Produced by Bill Ryder-Jones and recorded at Yawn Studios in West Kirby, ‘Plastic Palm Trees’ takes you on a haunting journey, led by a distant piano and Day’s vulnerable, reflective vocals asking: ‘Is this real life, baby?’

Speaking of the track Adam said, “Life as a parent and living alone are both still pretty new to me. After my son stays and goes back to his mums this empty silence kind of descends and that feeling is where the song started. The lyrics in a strange way seem to reflect current events so it felt like the right time to put this song out into the world.”
Named after a character from a US nineties TV show who robbed banks across county lines, the moniker summarizes Day’s place at a handful of intersections – upbeat energy versus introverted vulnerability, folk sensibilities versus
rock ambition, with a nod towards post-punk and nostalgia for days gone by.
County Line Runner have already garnered support from the likes of BBC Music, The Independent, Radio X, Spindle Magazine, The Times, Beats1 and Clash Magazine and continue their accent into 2020 and beyond.
