DMA’S are poised for a major breakthrough with their third album, due for release on 24 April 2020. The band recently shared the first taster of it with new song SILVER and have now announced they will headline LONDON O2 BRIXTON ACADEMY and MANCHESTER CASTLEFIELD BOWL in 2020, as well as supporting Gerry Cinnamon at GLASGOW HAMPDEN PARK. The album is available for pre-order now from https://dmasdmas.com and, for a limited time, fans can also purchase an exclusive bundle that includes a free 7” of the current single. DMA’S will be revealing album artwork, title and track list in the coming weeks.
DMA’S released their second album, FOR NOW, in 2018, which achieved their highest UK chart position of #13, boosted by huge ongoing daytime support at radio. An impressive 40,000 tickets were sold on their headline UK tours in 2019, and their touring continued that ascension with main stage sets at Isle of Wight, TRNSMT and Citadel alongside huge outdoor shows with Courteeners and Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds, before supporting Liam Gallagher on his arena tour in November. The band and Liam are mutual friends and fans of each other’s work, with Liam describing FOR NOW as “Biblical”.
The new single SILVER finds DMA’S gift for crafting unifying, arena-ready anthems elevated to new heights. It adds a surfeit of personality and influences to their love of the British indie scene, making for a global-facing track rooted in their love of the Stone Roses and The La’s. Frontman Tommy O’Dell’s vocals possess a new-found maturity and emotional resonance, delivering an unabashed love song that will surely connect far beyond their devoted fan base.
SILVER was produced by Scott Horscroft [Empire of The Sun, Silverchair] at Grove Studios, and was mixed by multiple Grammy winner Stuart Price [The Killers, EverythingEverything] at Westlake Studios in West Hollywood, where DMA’S and Price continue to work on the rest of the album.
Completed by guitarist Matt Mason and Johnny Took, DMA’s formed in Sydney and made an immediate impression with their self-titled 2014 debut EP. Their full-length debut, HILLS END, saw them crash into Australia’s Top 10, before FOR NOW cemented them as a force to be reckoned with. The album earned three ARIA Music Award nominations for Best Group, Best Rock Album and Best Independent Release. In 2018, they became one of the first Australian bands to play the iconic MTV Unplugged session, following in the footsteps of all-time greats such as Nirvana, Oasis and R.E.M. The performance was captured in 2019’s MTV UNPLUGGED LIVE album.
DMA’S will begin 2020 as one of the main attractions on Australia’s touring ST JEROME’S LANEWAY FESTIVAL in February before heading back to the UK in March ahead of their third album.
