FESTIVAL NEWS : The debut edition of Otherlands Music & Arts Festival kicks off at Scone Palace

Otherlands Music & Arts Festival makes its debut at Scone Palace

Today, Otherlands Music & Arts Festival welcomed thousands of fans for the first time to the grounds of Scone Palace in Perth for a weekend of cutting edge music, forward thinking art, comedy, bespoke industry panels and more.

The sun shone as the gates opened to the campsite at midday to one of the most anticipated events on this year’s festival calendar. Otherlands’ first day did not disappoint as guests were treated to sets from some of the best in cutting edge local and international talent.

French house virtuoso Folamour brought day one to an unforgettable close on the Portal Stage hosted by the world renowned Sub Club. His set transported fans to another world, fully immersing them in the joy and togetherness of Otherlands. The Portal Stage also welcomed Welsh producer and label boss Elkka’s high-energy set, as well as Scotland’s own Rebecca Vasmant and longstanding champions of Glasgow’s legendary Sub Club: Harri & Domenic and more.

Across the day fans were graced by sets from some of the most exciting homegrown talent, including Butho The Warrior who played an explosive B2B with Optimistic Soul, as well as Jaimie, Seren Seo, Wheelman and more underneath the botanical dome of the Fools’ Utopia jungle.

While over at the Sonare Stage, SAINT B*TCH took the helm curating the line-up for the evening.  A club night with inclusivity at its core, it was born out of a desire to create safer spaces for women & LGBTQ+ people. Founder Emjanero kicked things off with her hypnotic and unique sound before DJ Suzie, Xivro and Miss World took to the stage.

Tom Ketley, founder of Otherlands Music & Arts Festival, said: “We couldn’t be happier with our first day of the festival at Scone Palace. It was a great feeling to welcome fans to experience all that Otherlands has to offer, the atmosphere has been electric. Tomorrow our full five stages open with an exciting line-up showcasing a wide spectrum of the arts as well as a world-class music line-up.”

Tomorrow the journey continues with a kaleidoscopic line-up across the festival’s five stages  featuring Mercury Prize-winner Jamie xx, Glasgow soul-pop sensation Joesef and Fabric London resident Ricardo Villalobos. But Otherlands is more than just a music festival. Comedy performances also feature, as well as industry talks with some of the most influential names in the business, beginner DJ workshops and yoga.
