INTERVIEW : Picture This – Milestones & Memories: Picture This Reflects on Their Career

The interview is between Karen Edmond from the Scottish Music Network and the band members of the Irish band, Picture This – Ryan Hennessy, Cliff Deane, Jimmy Rainsford and Owen Cardiff.

The interview takes place at the Trnsmt music festival, which the band is performing at for the third time. Karen notes that the festival seems to be getting better each year, and the band agrees, saying the crowd was really great, especially for an early set on the first day when the performers may not be as energized.

When asked to describe their music to someone who hasn’t heard it before, Cliff explains that it is “big sing-along love songs” that are very inclusive and make the band and their fanbase feel like “one thing” – they are all part of the same experience. He says the music is simply about love.

The band members then discuss their musical influences – Ryan grew up listening to Oasis and Irish folk music, while the other members were into heavier metal bands. They are looking forward to seeing the festival headliner perform.

Karen asks about the highlight of the band’s musical career so far, and Ryan says that recording and releasing their first album was a huge milestone that he never imagined they would achieve. He also mentions a recent show at The Academy in Glasgow as being a standout performance on a big stage.

The band’s latest album “Park Car Conversation” released in April has been very well received, though they don’t highlight any specific songs. When asked what song might get someone interested in their music, Ryan suggests “Take My Hand” as a good representation.

Finally, when asked to give advice to up-and-coming bands, Owen suggests “learning to dance in the rain” – meaning being able to stay calm and adapt to the challenges of the music industry.

Overall, the interview provides a warm, positive portrait of the band’s experience at the festival, their musical style and influences, the highlights of their career so far, and some advice for other aspiring musicians.
