James Newman has today unveiled the uniquely breathtaking video for his emotionally charged new single ‘Enough’ – out now. Shot in the deserted streets of London, on drone footage by director Charlie Lightning, the video shows James virtually going where no one else can go, offering a completely unique look into the capital’s empty streets as a result of lockdown.
Lead by stunning piano lines, soaring melodies, and driven by a pulsating backbeat, the track serves as the perfect follow up to his Eurovision 2020 entry ‘My Last Breath’. “Everybody’s got a heart with a hole in the bottom where the love runs out”is a poignant line that echoes throughout and drives home the song’s emotionally-charged message. The track was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Stuart Crichton.
Of the song & video, James comments; “In this strange time, love is everything. Being there for someone when times are hard. The shots of an deserted London really hit home. They represent how love is and will get us through. How it’s bigger than the empty streets and closed shops.”
Eurovision 2020 may have been cancelled this year, but that hasn’t stopped a host of special, improvised shows to offer servings of Eurovision joy to viewers across the world…
‘Eurovision Come Together’ will be broadcast on May 16th on BBC One, hosted by Graham Norton – on the night the grand final would have been. The show will offer up some of the most memorable and iconic past performances which have kept fans entertained throughout the years, and will serve as compensation for fans who were looking forward to this year’s cancelled contest.
Also broadcast on May 16th on the BBC, ‘Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light’ will be a show that focuses on paying respect to people affected by the corona virus and those who work so very hard to fight this crisis. Eurovision-artists from the past will perform special versions of their entries.
Finally, there is a host of special ‘Eurovision Home Concerts’ planned- a set of weekly home concerts on the Eurovision YouTube Channel. Each episode will feature several artists who would have performed this year or who have performed at Eurovision in recent years. Each artist will perform their entry, and a cover version of another popular Eurovision hit. The choice of cover song will be voted for by Eurovision’s social media followers using a poll which has four options, decided by the artist.
Whilst in lockdown, James contracted Coronavirus, but is through the other side and has recovered, focusing now on this week’s Eurovision activity and looking forward to more offerings of new music this year.
