Today, Manchester singer-songwriter Pip Millett announces her highly anticipated debut album ‘When Everything Is Better, I’ll Let You Know’ – out 21st October 2022 (via Dream Life/Sony Music). With this announcement comes a new single titled ‘Slow’ accompanied by a KC Locke-directed

On the R&B-led ‘Slow’, Pip eloquently flirts with romance, describing exactly how to adorn her, with the black and white video perfectly encapsulating the thrills and subtleties of young love. Her sultry tones and womanhood take centre-stage and it’s this kind of sense of command we see run through the rest of her forthcoming album.

Poised as a generational titan, anointed in an ethereal amalgamation of R&B and jazz, Pip Millett is every bit the artist of those who came before her, demonstrating glimmers of her potential across the 17 tracks that sit on this debut. Throughout When Everything Is Better, I’ll Let You Know, Pip acknowledges her personal growth, now coping healthily with anxiety and depression, as well as overcoming trauma. Harrowing, brooding and reflexive, Pip excels with ease, radiating maturity, despite her youth.

Like ‘Slow’, previously released tracks from the album, ‘Ride with Me’ and ‘Downright’ place Pip’s talent for combining the old with the new to produce a contemporary yet timeless sound at the forefront, her raw lyricism allowing listeners to witness all the paths that have led to the woman she is today. She tackles inequalities in socio-economic terrains, using her own experiences and relationships as the core influencers of the project. It’s this sense of lucidity that renders Millett as a renaissance vocalist, able to reflect on the current cultural landscape around her, having a point of view that translates both inside and outside of the studio.

Additionally, on ‘This Stage’, amidst a whimsical production of piano keys and sombre sonics, Millett’s hollow lower register is present, allowing a ghoul to sear across the song, marking its place as one of the singer’s most considered releases yet. With self-love anthem, ‘Only Love’ where she proudly accepts how far she’s come – the perfect note to conclude the album on.

With the eyes of both the industry and the UK firmly on her, Pip Millett continues to garner attention across the loudest of publications alongside major support across BBC Radio One, Xtra and 6Music – underlining the sense of an extremely special artist forging her own lane. On When Everything Is Better, I’ll Let You Know she proves that blossoming authentically and true-to-form is a concoction that audiences are yearning for more of, defining herself as a thrillingly potent and compelling artist, able to balance mainstream appeal on BBC Radio One with critical appreciation from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Benji B and Gilles Peterson. Once released, she’ll prove that all of her talents and industry-nods are only the beginnings of the next homegrown legacy act in the making.
