THE HACIENDA THREADS // BOOK LAUNCH PARTY

MANCHESTER NEW CENTURY HALL // WED 9 OCTOBER

By Rebecca Hook // Foreword by Peter Hook // Launch Night Tickets: www.skiddle.com/e/40068028

THE BOOK

The music. The fashion. The nights. The people. The love. These are the threads that came together to make the Haçienda great. Celebrate the club that changed everything in this official book, told through evocative photographs and eye-witness accounts of the people who were there – from the musicians, the DJs and the fashion designers to performers, clubbers and staff.

Since the opening night on 21 May 1982 until it closed its doors in 1997, the Haçienda was the last word in music, fashion and world-beating club culture. A cathedral of the alternative, it played a formative part in the careers of many artists and was a focal point of the dance music and acid house scenes. Its spirit lives on in the shape of globally loved Haçienda events, which continue to bring joy to veteran and new clubbers alike.

With contributions from Peter Hook, John Cooper Clarke, Bez, Noel Gallagher, Rowetta, Irvine Welsh, Andrew O’Hagan, Mani, Mike Pickering, Todd Terry and Roger Sanchez alongside Haçienda staff, club goers and many more.

THE EVENT

This is Manchester. We do things differently here.”

The Manchester launch, in which proceeds will be donated to three charities, will be something a bit different as FAC51 The Haçienda takes over the historic New Century Hall for a special event that promises to be anything but ordinary. This unique event will celebrate the vibrant story of The Haçienda with an engaging round table discussion featuring key figures from the iconic venue’s history.

Join us “in conversation” as we dive into the stories and memories that defined a generation. The panel will be hosted by the journalist Paul Flynn and will feature renowned figures from the Haçienda alumni, including Peter Hook, resident DJs Graeme Park and Greg Wilson, general manager Ang Matthews and Flesh promoter Paul Cons. Also joining the discussion will be fashion designer Ian Griffiths, Manchester alt-cabaret legend The Divine David Hoyle, Angela Murray of the fetish label Murray & Vern and bona fide music legends Noel Gallagher and Mani from The Stone Roses. The evening promises to be a thought-provoking debate on the enduring influence of The Haçienda and its cultural significance.

Following the discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase copies of the book and have them signed by panel members and the book’s curator, Rebecca Hook.

And what would a Haçienda event be without a celebration? The evening will culminate in a club night featuring sets from Graeme Park, Jon Dasilva, Guy Williams and Hewan Clarke. Peter Hook will also be DJ-ing alongside rare DJ appearances from Lady Bump and Michelle Kelly plus special guests and performers that will showcase the fashion and flair of those golden years.

Proceeds from the event will be donated between three very important charities: AKT – formerly known as the Albert Kennedy Trust – Mind and Sarcoma. Tickets are limited to an intimate capacity, priced £51 and include a complimentary Haçienda Cocktail on arrival.

Relive the magic of The Haçienda while celebrating the launch of this compelling book. Join us for a night of nostalgia, music, and love x
