Cracking under pressure? – Caragh’s new single Panic Attack is the
perfect antidote.
Panic Attack
Out Friday 17 February 2023 | Self-Released
Two years on from releasing her debut EP The Show, Glasgow based singer songwriter Caragh
releases her new single Panic Attack on 17 February 2023. If lush orchestrations, poignant lyrics and
soaring vocals are your thing then Caragh has you covered. The first release from her upcoming
album, the track is inspired by the overwhelming sense of responsibility that came with the initiation
into parenthood but translates to anyone who is trying to hold it all together when life gets a bit too
much.
Caragh said: “For me, motherhood is a wonderful journey, but it’s not without its challenges,
especially having a child during the global pandemic. Panic Attack is a reaction to the overwhelming
sense of responsibility and pressures I faced during those initial months of adapting to the ‘new
normal’ and adjusting to our expanding family. As society acclimatises in the aftermath of the
pandemic, there are a lot of people who still carry this anxiety and I wanted to use my own
experience, as I think it will resonate with other people and help them understand they are not
alone.”
Supported by Creative Scotland, Caragh received funding to write, produce and release her
forthcoming album Pieces of Me which will be out in September 2023. Caragh teamed up again with
Audrey Tait (Franz Ferdinand, Novasound Studios) and Lauren Gilmour (Novasound Studios) to coproduce the tracks and the results combine influences from David Gray, The Beatles and Beth Orton.
From a young age, Caragh has been immersed in music. Earning her stripes in church choirs and
choral societies, she has sung in the iconic Notre Dame cathedral in Paris and with the RSNO junior
chorus. Combining classical influences with the titans of songwriting; The Beatles, Joni Mitchell and
Sia, Caragh has developed her own unique sound which runs through her music.
In 2019 Caragh’s track ‘Twenty Years’ was shortlisted for the Stewart Cruickshank’s Songwriting
Bursary, making the final ten. Since the release of her EP The Show in 2020, Caragh has secured
airplay on BBC Radio Scotland, Amazing Radio and Celtic Music Radio, as well as playlisting on
internet radio in Australia, South Africa and the USA.
Having performed alongside HORSE at Cumbernauld Theatre in November 2022 as the Showcase
Artist for Elaine Lennon’s Homebird Sessions, it’s just the beginning of a bright future for this
Scottish singer-songwriter.
