(Jonn Penney & Dan Worton of Ned’s Atomic Dustbin)
announce new single ‘Run Into A Standstill’
13th century
The origin of the word despair is to ‘be without hope’.
Spairs = hopes.
Run Into A Standstill is the new single from forthcoming album ‘Spills’ from Jonn Penney & Dan Worton of Ned’s Atomic Dustbin’s new band ‘Spairs’ released Friday 4th March.
The track opens with one of the most anthemic indie riffs you’ll ever hear; you’ll be humming it for days after.
About the single, Jonn says “This is a song about procrastination, born out of self-doubt. Would a Jonn in his 50s still have anything interesting to say? Would fans think it’s any good? I guess we’ll find out…”
“My hesitance to write new songs was in stark contrast to Dan’s no-nonsense hard-work ethic. Dan’s banging riff inspired me to step up. Result!”
Judging by the forthcoming album in May we believe the answer is ‘yes’, this 50s Jonn, with a 35 year music career under his belt alongside the multi-instrumentalist genius Dan Worton, proves he still has plenty to say.
Old and new fans alike will hear Run Into A Standstill as an epic live track on the band’s forthcoming tour.
Remember, Spairs isn’t a Ned’s Atomic Dustbin side project, this is a totally new beast born out of lockdown and here to stay.
Dan and Jonn have invited some very gifted players along for the live ride so that the shows will be a full-on, full-tilt, full band affair. Stand by for a line-up announcement soon. Tickets for the dates next May are on sale now. Catch the band at:-
3rd May – Manchester – Night & Day
