Following on from the release of her spellbinding single ‘A Sun Going Down’ in February, which was named Track Of The Week on BBC Introducing Merseyside, as well as receiving plays from Amazing Radio, and tastemaker support from the likes of Wonderland, Record of the Day, The Most Radicalist, When The Horn Blows and much more, fast-rising alt-pop artist Natalie McCool has now returned with the official video for her latest release.
Capturing the same warm and inviting sound that the track projects, the new visuals for ‘A Sun Going Down’ add a new and textured layer to her brilliant offering. Filmed on Liverpool’s Formby Beach during the sunset, it gives the song an elevated presence throughout and creates a beautiful accompaniment to her much-applauded work.
Speaking about the new video, Natalie said, “The video for A Sun Going Down was filmed on Formby beach in Liverpool, the day was hot but the night was cold! We wanted to capture the clarity of the sunset over the water, the huge horizon and beautiful colours, translating the song into image. Robin Clewley shot & produced the video, he also shoots my photos for each release so it was great to work with him. I think the video is so beautiful and perfectly captures the strength and life in the song.”
‘A Sun Going Down’ is lifted from her soon-to-be-announced new album ‘Memory Girl’, and she is expected to embark on a string of live dates in the near future. More details yet to come.
The new release arrives after an impressive 2020 for Natalie McCool, which saw her previously shared singles ‘Closure’ and ‘Devils’ land radio plays on BBC Radio 1, 6Music, BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio and tastemaker support from the likes of CLASH, Under The Radar, God Is In The TV, and Breaking More Waves to name a few.
2019 proved to be a transitional year for Liverpool based artist Natalie McCool, and 2020 saw her forging a new path for herself, having built a strong foundation to achieve great things. Her early single ‘Someone Nue’ saw her invited to support Aurora and She Drew The Gun, alongside playing many of her own headline shows across the UK. Her cover of ‘Wondrous Place’ by Liverpool legend Billy Fury was chosen by Sky to head up the advertising campaign for their highly-praised drama series ‘The Third Day’, a collaboration with HBO starring Jude Law and Naomie Harris, and produced by Brad Pitt’s production company. Natalie also hosts a monthly podcast series called McCool & The Gang, to explore different parts of the music industry with featured guests she has collaborated with in some form or another, including Chris Hawkins, The Whyte Horses, Hattie Pearson and Silent Cities.
The LIPA graduate released her previous album ‘The Great Unknown’ in 2016, which saw media support from the likes of The Sunday Times, Q and The Line of Best Fit. Her single ‘Cardiac Arrest’ was also playlisted on BBC Radio 1 in the lead up to the release of the album.
2021 is set to a big year for this incredibly talented and timeless artist.
