2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize nominated all-star London ten-piece SEED Ensemble announce their first ever UK tour for spring 2020, taking in eleven shows across the country.
Led by alto saxophonist and composer Cassie Kinoshi, the ten-piece jazz group will head out on their debut UK tour, taking in eleven shows in Glasgow, Clitheroe, Manchester, Leeds, Gateshead, Sheffield, Barton-upon-Humber, Norwich, Birmingham, Bristol and Southampton in March & April next year.
SEED Ensemble boasts a stellar line-up, made up of London’s most exciting young jazz musicians including tuba player Theon Cross (Sons of Kemet), trumpeter Sheila-Maurice-Grey (Kokoroko) and guitarist Shirley Tetteh (Maisha).
Combining jazz with inner-city London, West African and Caribbean influenced groove, SEED Ensemble explore a blend of genres through original compositions and improvisation.
Their Hyundai Mercury Prize nominated debut album ‘Driftglass’ (released via Jazz Re:freshed in February 2019) features the track “Afronaut” (feat. XANA) which won the Ivors Academy Award 2018 (formerly known as BASCA, British Composer Award) for Jazz Composition For Large Ensemble.
SEED Ensemble will play the following UK live shows in spring 2020 (presented by Music-Net & friends, in association with ATC Live) – tickets for all shows on-sale now;
