+ Huge November UK ‘Hometown Tour’ Announced

As anticipation builds ahead of their new record, Sea Girls step things up another gear as they unveil their brilliant new single ‘Lonely’ – taken from the new release Homesick – out 25th March 2022 on Polydor.

Directed by James Slater (Sam Fender, Blossoms), shot on the beaches of Morecambe, and starring JoJo Macari (Netflix’s Sex Education & The Irregulars), it’s a video drenched in nostalgia that follows the journey of singer Henry Camamile and an unrequited love (LARA), as he imagines what she’s up to now, in a series of colourful dream-like snapshots

Premiered last night as Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 by Jack Saunders, sitting in for Clara Amfo on the Future Sounds Show, the track delivers lyrics that are as raw and honest as any track on the record. Opening with a poignant whistle, the track pivots to acutely observed lines like “playing Fat of the Land by the Cash ‘n’ Carry / I nearly cried / On the back of my hand / Did a doodle you used to do when we were five”. Take a bow, the millennial Alan Bennett.

“It was written the day Ennio Morricone died, so was initially in honour of him, a nod to the good, the bad and the ugly – hence the whistle and the line ‘OK Corral’”, comments Henry. “It’s about the best friend I probably should have gone out with, but never did. We both moved on and the band happened and life got in the way for the both of us.”

The new single also coincides with an extremely exciting live announcement as the band reveal their biggest headline shows to date with `The Hometown Tour’. Kicking off mid-November, Sea Girls will take on seven monster shows including what will be a truly special night at London’s Alexandra Palace on November 25th. Tickets will be available on pre-sale from 10AM Tuesday February 22nd HERE, and general sale 10AM Friday February 25th HERE.

In October last year Sea Girls wrapped up what can only be described as one of the most highly-anticipated tours of the year. Nearly two years in the making, the boys tore up eleven O2 Academy headline sold out shows, including a packed-to-the-rafters O2 Academy Brixton, with The Telegraph stating that the “show felt like the start of something brilliant and modern”. Their debut album Open Up Your Head was also recently officially certified as a ‘BRIT Breakthrough’ album by the BPI having achieved over 30,000 OCC sales on a debut album in the UK alone.

Sea Girls – Henry Camamile, Rory Young, Andrew Dawson and Oli Khan, deliver thirteen measures of guitar driven pop brilliance including 2 bonus Deluxe tracks. A deeply personal record, lead singer Henry Camamile returned to his childhood home in Lincolnshire at the wake of the pandemic, finding himself having to address and reflect on events from his past, both good and bad. A cathartic process, Henry leaves nothing to the imagination with his astute storytelling and candid lyrics. Delving into some of his darkest moments, the uplifting album comes as a sense of relief, a gratefulness for survival. Lyrically raw and packed to the brim with hooks, the band step into new realms with an added sense of maturity and a bigger ambitious  sounding record.

Production-wise, the record sees a stellar lineup in a dream team of long-term producer Larry Hibbitt, along with Grammy Award winning producers Jacknife Lee. Henry reflects on the process: “Imagine us locked down in the studio in rainy Brixton working with the producers remotely on the album in California’s Topanga Canyon. That clashing of worlds is the sound of this record, the DNA. Making an album this way, remotely and 5000 miles apart, was a crazy idea and shouldn’t have worked, but it did.”

Sea Girls, one of the most exciting guitar bands to have emerged in recent times, are the torchbearers for the next wave. Delivering sing-along anthems for the masses, the band’s journey is well and truly on its way.
